Guiding principles for youth-led action, Youth Access
To embed and promote effective ways of supporting young people to lead social action, Youth Access wanted to develop a set of principles for inclusive, impactful and genuinely youth-led change.
I consulted with young changemakers and the professionals supporting them, focusing on key demographics who are often left out of mainstream youth and social action spaces - young people who are Black and racialised, refugees and asylum seekers, Gypsy Roma Traveller, D/deaf, and trans.
We brought together themes and collectively wrote up the final piece, resulting in a set of principles for youth workers, activist groups, policymakers, and anybody who wants to really put young voices at the centre of change.
Testimony:
“Kahra led a brilliant project to support the development of Guiding Principles for Youth-led Change alongside a number of organisations and young people.
“She embedded inclusive and responsive approaches to the delivery of the work to ensure the voices and experiences of people most marginalised were at the centre.
“Those involved said they felt empowered and more confident and the outputs of the work has helped build change at Youth Access and beyond.”
